Patient-Advocate spearheads Frozen II Benefit Screening for Rare patients, PSOD

PASIG CITY – With two cinemas fully booked, the benefit screening for the Philippine Society for Orphan Disorders showed that Filipinos support the rare community. Organized by rare disease patient-advocate Juan Magdaraog, the benefit-screening featuring the Disney animated film Frozen II was held at Ayala Malls’ The 30th last November 25, 2019.

Aside from the benefit screening, patients and families of children with rare diseases were invited for a special screening of the movie in one of the theaters with recliner seats. More than 25 PSOD families joined the event.

In a Facebook post, Magdaraog thanked the screening’s sponsors and moviegoers who made the event possible.

“With a humble and grateful heart, I send my deepest thanks to all those who came to support our block screening. Through your generosity we were not only able to raise money but treat some patients and their families to the screening of Frozen 2.

Living with a rare disease is tough. It’s not an easy life. I know first hand because I‘ve been living with it. As hard as it is it’s the only life we have. We need to make the most of it. Despite my disease my life has been blessed. I have a wonderful family, great friends who continue to support me and opportunities to live and work. Not everyone is as lucky.

Supporting the Philippine Society for Orphan Diseases is my way of giving back and paying it forward. The PSOD does very important work to advance the cause of rare disease patients in the Philippines.”
